Good point, I had to upgrade xkb-data to 1.6-1 to get my keyboard 
working fully (except for the Zoom "keys", but IIRC that's a kernel 
issue).

Setting XkbOptions in Xorg.conf to the value you mentioned works like a 
charm, thanks!
It works fine in squeeze without any configuration, so I guess my 
problem is only caused by mixing different versions of xkb-data and 
xserver-xorg-core.
