problem with xserver-xorg-input-evtouch

hello all,
this is my first post.
First of all my touchscreen wotks fine with ubuntu.
now in debian testing/squeeze I have various problems.
First of all the touchscreen would not work (it uses the eGalax chip) because instead of the evtouch module the xserver was using the synaptics module. Therefore I inserted the fdi file in /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/50-eGalax.fdi. The touch operation now seemed to work but the ev_calibrate application was reporting that it couldn't find "*freemono*'. This was true because using xlsfonts the freemono wasn't showing up.
Next step was to download the source package open ev_calibrate.c file and replace font_name="*freemono*" with font_name="*lucindasans*" because this was the shortest and simplest name to use, that would also be seen by xlsfonts.
Success!!. I had a different output from the ev_calibrate app now. The output was that it couldn't find the empty_cursor.bmp file. Whati I did was that i copied this file to the root directory and the application finally run!!!!
Now the final problem was that the touchscreen was roughly responding to the touchscreen and to "calibrate" the touch screen and get out from the application i tapped the touchpad ver the red x's....
I am running out of ideas on what to do next...
Any hel would be greatly appreciated
Kind regards
