I also get those random crashes on debian/unstable since upgrading xserver and 
KDE. It often happens when I start applications like Konqueror, especially 
when another application, e.g. VDR is already running. This did not happen 
before the dist-upgrade.

It might be useful to know the last message in kdm.log before the xserver 
restarts:
