Probably a problem in the intel driver, not in xrandr. And probably not
a problem actually, latest intel driver dynamically resizes the
framebuffer when needed, it's much better than in the past.

We need more information about your problem anyway. What did you try and
how did it fail ?

And please send your config and log.
