I can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and change the line # defoptions=vga=0x0305 into # defoptions=vga=0x0305 nopat and then re-run update-grub (please note that I am still using grub-legacy: I haven't yet find the time to give grub-pc a try...). -- New location for my website!
