VIA Technologies, Inc. UniChrome Pro IGP (rev 01) card is not recognized, forcing users to switch to a vesa 
driver.
Apparently the problem has been solved upstream:

The old via driver has been removed from Debian in favour of the OpenChrome 
driver.
I'm now closing this report, if you encounter any issue please don't hesitate
