Bug#513875: I second the wish to enable tap-click by default.

sounded to me as if the poster is / was under the impression that enabling 
it by default would be a good idea.

I definitely am, as it's a commonly used feature in my experience and I'm 
not sure whether explicitly enabling it is a trivial task for the average 
user. (Do the "standard" mouse configuration dialogs in GNOME and / or KDE 
offer options to fine-tune a synaptics touchpad?)

Do you think this feature could confuse users if enabled by default? I'd 
guess most would expect a touchpad to work this way "by itself".
