I have an ASUS M3A78 Pro motherboard with built-in Radeon 3200 HD
(RS780 GPU) which I am hoping to use for video playback.

At present I a using the VGA output and have found that the default
acceleration takes the majority of the CPU cycles, and that using either exa or xaa acceleration results in unstable video output using
gxine and loss of audio/video synchronisation in mplayer.

I could probably achieve better results with an older Radeon graphics
card but such cards are no longer available new.

I am happy to compile and test new versions of the radeonhd code.

Does the ati/radeon driver work fine on this board?

Brice

Yes, xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.12.2-1 works but with no acceleration available and the same high CPU consumption when viewing videos.

Arthur.
