Bug#492404: configuration problem

I had the same problem, resolution only up to 800 x 600, until I
manually put the VertRefresh and HorizSync values of my monitor in
xorg.conf. Now I have the full resolution of 1920 x 1200. So this seems
to rather be a problem with autoconfiguration OR hardware recognition
than with resolution itself
