Compiz makes my KDE in lenny unstable I see very regular opengl game crashes when running the compiz window manager as opposed to the kwin window manager and I'm using the binary nvidia driver from the repository. When you do have a crash, have you tried killing the xserver using ctrl-alt-backspace? Sometimes that works for me. If that doesn't work you can also try ssh'ing into the box and restarting either kdm or gdm and seeing if that will bring the window manager back. I for one am waiting for KDE 4.2 to eventually come to testing, which at least for my purposes will make compiz redundant and will be removed from all my machines. -- Regards, Sheridan Hutchinson sheridan@shezza.org
