Read carefully, Gaudenz. Patched kernel fixes only driver misbehaviour
caused by "INVALID MEM ALLOCATION". But then lenny driver fails with
the other (or same) issue - it fails to mmap one of the PCI regions.
The same result could be reproduced with experimental driver on
following kernels:
  1) etchnhalf 2.6.24
  2) lenny's 2.6.26
  3) your 2.6.26

Since experimental driver is more generous with logs, I conclude that
in both drivers the problem PCI-region is MMIO, i.e. region 2.

Not sure where the problem is, but I think it is the kernel, because I
traced the mmapping codel in the libpciaccess and found out that mmap
system call returns EINVAL, though the arguments are pretty correct.
