Bug#502491: xserver-xorg-video-r128: On Thinkpad A21p: 1600 x 1200 is the only acceptable resolution

Package: xserver-xorg-video-r128
Version: 6.8.0-1
Severity: important

I guess, this subject could also fit to the Thinkpad A22p, because it's the same display and the same
chipset. The chipset btw is a "Rage Mobility M3"
When I use other resolutions than 1600x1200, I get a garbled screen. I read in older Mailinglists (from
the year 2003 / 2004 or so), that the user were experiencing this with XFree86-versions and they used
insane high vertical refresh rates to fix the problem. I tried this, too, but it wasn't a solution for me.
I also tried playing around with "xvidtune" - no change.
