Same phenomenon, slightly different diagnostics:
(II) RADEON(0): Generation 2 PCI interface, using max accessible memory
(II) RADEON(0): Detected total video RAM=524288K, accessible=262144K
(PCI BAR=262144K)
(--) RADEON(0): Mapped VideoRAM: 262144 kByte (256 bit DDR SDRAM)
and, slightly before that,
(II) RADEON(0): Framebuffer space used by Firmware (kb): 20
(II) RADEON(0): Start of VRAM area used by Firmware: 0x7ffb000
(II) RADEON(0): AtomBIOS requests 20kB of VRAM scratch space
(II) RADEON(0): AtomBIOS VRAM scratch base: 0x7ffb000
(II) RADEON(0): Cannot get VRAM scratch space. Allocating in main memory instead
I don't know that any of this is actually a *problem*, but it does
look a bit scary.
