Bug#496519: compiz: segfault at startup

Package: compiz
Version: 0.7.6-5
Severity: important

When I start 'compiz --replace' the windows disappear for a
moment and then I get the following segfault in the shell window:

bernhard@be:~$ compiz --replace
Checking for Xgl: not present.
Detected PCI ID for VGA:
Checking for texture_from_pixmap: present.
Checking for non power of two support: present.
Checking for Composite extension: present.
Comparing resolution (1600x1200) to maximum 3D texture size (4096): Passed.
Checking for nVidia: present.
Checking for FBConfig: present.
Checking for Xgl: not present.
Starting gtk-window-decorator
/usr/bin/compiz: line 393: 4683 Segmentation fault
${COMPIZ_BIN_PATH}${COMPIZ_NAME} $COMPIZ_OPTIONS "$@" $COMPIZ_PLUGINS
^C

After I kill compiz with ^C the windows disappear/flicker again and the
shell window is deselected.

This is a fresh installation of debian/testing (lenny). I have recompiled debians
2.6.26 kernel with gcc 4.3 and these modifications:

K7 processor
xen disabled (possibly badly, I'm unfamiliar with xen)

I installed the nvidia driver with nvidias installer.
I use kdm and gnome.
nvidia 6200 AGP card

flightgear works fine. secondlife too, but it crashes when I try to change its
fullscreen resolution.
