it would be nice to see your patch submitted upstream. Could you do
that by sending a mail to xorg@lists.freedesktop.org, possibly CCing the
synaptics driver maintainer, Christoph Brill <egore911@egore911.de>?
An alternative would be to submit it to bugzilla at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=xorg
