Anyway, since we don't yet have a reliable workaround and this can cause data loss (just happened!) I'd like to ask that the severity of this bug be bumped up.

Bumping the severity won't magically fix the bug, so no.

Does the ExaNoComposite option work around the bug? What about
disabling DRI?

Cheers,
Julien

The ExaNoComposite option increases dramatically the frequency of crashes. I enabled it and it literally crashed three times in an hour. Perhaps useful for debugging purposes, and I'd be willing to try again with this end in mind, but no, it does not work around the bug.

I can't test the NoDRI option because my laptop will not resume from suspend with that option enabled. I've tried throwing various quirks at s2ram, but have not been able to get it to reliably resume from suspend. Thus, even if the symptom were to disappear it could simply be chalked up to shutting the computer down every 4 hours and restarting it. The bug would still be there, perhaps, I'd just never have enough uptime to ever see it occur.

Thanks for replying about the severity.

Best,
A
