After talking with Julien on IRC, we settled for something else: I cloned the git tree in git://git.debian.org/~pootle-guest/xorg and will sync it with the main tree. Pootle will commit there and, therefore, maintainers would just need to pull data from that tree when releasing (which would also solve the changelog problem, from what Julien told me).
