Bug#484015: iBook xorg.conf file?

Thank you very much for sending this Rogério, I definitely appreciate it.

The only problem is that so far I have not been able to make it work for me on a default Debian Etch install, either as provided or with various modifications.

After playing with all sorts of options (HorizRefresh values, VertRefresh values, DRI on and off, Framebuffer on and off, which modules are loaded, which core driver it uses (ati seemed the most likely to work for me)), I still just get a black screen. When I ctrl-alt-backspace (actually delete on a mac) I get back to the console, and (just as before with the default xorg config file from Debian) the console then starts flickering.

I'm now compiling a custom kernel to support WPA2 encryption using the Apple Airport. Perhaps I'll get lucky and it will work after the kernel upgrade, but I think that's pretty optimistic.

I'll keep trying things, and post back if I find something that works.

Thanks!

I read your post at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=484015 while Googling for working iBook xorg configurations. I don't suppose you would be able to e-mail me a copy of your working configuration, would you?

Just to help you and other people that may be in the same situation, I
attach here a xorg.conf file that works for me on my r128 iBook (iBook 2).
I'm Cc'ing the debian-powerpc list so that it would be easier to get a
reference as well as a starting point for further customization (like
enabling DMA for XV, forcing the AGP interface to be used at higher speeds
etc).

I'm sending a copy of this to the bug report that I've opened also, so that
the X Strike Force can see what they can do for making iBooks work
out-of-the-box in an lenny install.

Hope this helps, Rogério Brito.

P.S.: Please, keep in mind that the ati driver has been divided now into
mach64, r128 and radeon and, possibly, adaptations to this config file may
be needed.
