Bug#488283: libgl1-mesa-glx: drmMap of framebuffer failed, reverting to software rendering
Package: libgl1-mesa-glx
Version: 7.0.3-1
Severity: important
Since my last update I noticed a immense slowdown in the graphics
performance. Even switching desktops needs up to several seconds.
Looking into Xorg.0.log I found:
(EE) AIGLX error: drmMap of framebuffer failed (Invalid argument)(EE)
AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
Same result when starting glxgears:
libGL error: drmMap of framebuffer failed (Invalid argument)
libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
Trying to find more information I looked into BTS, but solutions from
bug-reports describing a similar slowdown (e.g. #480689) do not work. It
is slow whatever I use, EXA, XAA, or other options.
This is using a Thinkpad X40 with Intel 855GM graphics card:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM
Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
I am not sure if this is correct package, so reassign to the appropriate
one, please. Also I set the severity to important, but a higher is
probably more suitable since it makes other packages almost unusable.
If you have further questions, please send me an email.
Regards,
Sten
