Hi!

I've just experienced an X lockup error.
My video card is an Intel 965G integrated graphics chipset (on
an ASUS P5B-VM motherboard).

My box was running the StonerView screensaver
(/usr/lib/xscreensaver/stonerview) and playing music with audacious.
I was actually doing something else away from keyboard.
All of a sudden, music stopped, so my attention was drawn to the screen:
the screensaver animation was frozen on the screen and I could not
do anything with mouse or keyboard ([Ctrl+Alt+F1] was not able to
switch to a virtual console; [Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace] did nothing;
no other keys or mouse actions had any effect at all).

I went to another box on my LAN and pinged the frozen box: it replied
happyly.  So I logged in via ssh to the frozen box and found out that
the X session had vanished.  The only logged user was the remote one!
No other processes belonging to the X session had survived.

By looking at logs, I noticed the following error in /var/log/kern.log:
