Package: xdm
Version: 1:1.1.8-1
Every time I start xdm I have to turn the brightness back down (via
keypresses of Fn End here on my IBM Thinkpad r50e) from the maximum.
Not only upon a fresh boot but even upon an "xdm restart".
The brightness level of the Linux console does not need to be reset
however.
Therefore I wish xdm would remember and restore the brightness level
better.
I see nothing obvious in /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and /var/log/xdm.log is a
zero byte file last touched last year!)

This has nothing to do with xdm, but with whatever X driver you're
using.
