Bug#483501: libxcursor1: core.theme results in incorrectly drawn cursors

When the core.theme (and any theme that uses cursors from core.theme
like redglass.theme) is activated (update-alternatives --config
x-cursor-theme and x restart), the cursors are misdrawn. The error is
specific.
What I assume should look like

1 2 3 4
1 2 3 4
is displayed as
2 3 4 1
2 3 4 1
2 3 4 1
2 3 4 1
That is, the left-most columns are drawn on the the right edge of the
cursor. It seems that if a theme shares cursors with cores, those and
only those cursors are misdrawn.
This occured when updating to the latest version of xorg and related x
libs.
