Well, I understand your position, but you have to know that the upstream
devs sometimes do not care about crashes caused by non-regular
xorg.conf. For instance, when RandR 1.2 appeared, it caused some
old-valid xorg.conf with dual head to crash and you keep refusing to at
least fix the crash and make it just fail to start...

By the way, when looking at crashes, a debugging backtrace from gdb
after installing xserver-xorg-core-dbg is often much more helpful than
the strace output :)
