Bug#374026: xserver-xorg-input-kbd: Alt (or maybe Meta?) key getting "stuck"
Package: xserver-xorg-input-kbd
Version: 1:1.2.2-3
Followup-For: Bug #374026
Twice in the last couple of days I've experienced the 'Alt' key (or
maybe it's 'Meta') getting 'stuck' in the X server. What happens is
this: whenever I type something, if it's not a WM-bound key, it is
inserted as-is, however, when I press something like 'space' or 'w',
the WM interprets it as a WM command (i.e. just as if Alt+Space or
Alt+W was pressed). For the mouse it's the same: clicking with the
mouse results in the start of a window dragging operation.
I've tried restarting Metacity but that didn't fix anything.
I started vmware (which was tricky in itself since the 'w' in 'vmware'
closes the terminal window since alt+w is mapped to 'close window...),
and Alt was NOT pressed in the virtual Windows box. However, after
un-grabbing the mouse, the problem persisted in X.
I'm using GNOME, and the keyboard is a Microsoft Natural 4000. I'm
happy to provide more information when requested.
