Weird, it's usually the other way around (well, it should basically work
without, but not quite correctly).
Now it is like you say. Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true" activated and compiz works.
I do not know why the change. Maybe some important updates in sid recently? (anyway, I just tried compiz *once* when it failed to start).
So, if this option is good for compiz and kwin, why is it not the default?
