This sounds like a GPU lockup unfortunately, that's very hard to debug.

Assuming it happens often enough, can you try downgrading either
xserver-xorg-video-nv or xserver-xorg-core to the previous versions to
find where the problem appeared? (http://snapshot.debian.net/ will help)
I am reassigning to the nv driver for now.
