The best discussion is at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10525 -- it doesn't look
like there's a working fix upstream yet.  I'm not seeing a version of
the patch for 1.4. What you applied earlier did work, however -- I can
reproduce this reliably and will test if you want.
