I was wondering why when I clicked on default cursor theme on gnome apparence, it did not use the theme I configured with
update-alternatives --config x-cursor-themes

I look into the x-cursor-themes source package, and did not find any installation of link
 /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme -> /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-themes

with a simple ln -s /etc/alternatives/x-cursor-themes /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme
it gets the normal behaviour.

so please add a dh_link etc/alternatives/x-cursor-themes usr/share/icons/default/index.theme
in debian/rules :-)

Given how simple the packaging is, I am going to consider that there is
no bug here, and thus I am closing this bug.

However, if you or anybody else ever reproduces, feel free to reopen. If
so, please keep your system in the "broken symlink" state so that we can
debug a bit. And check the status of xcursor-themes package (in case
dpkg got interrupted before the postinst script was done, for instance).
