i guess we were thinking the same thing... because about 1 minute before you 
sent this email i had uploaded a new compiz package which, among other 
things, include compiz-manager as a replacement for the previous 
compiz.wrapper :)  

This closes a *lot* of the open bugs against compiz, which were the result of 
the old wrapper doing things like always loading the gconf plugin instead of 
the ccp plugin (which breaks a lot of things), and always executing the gtk 
decorator (which breaks even more).  you should see some traffic on this list 
shortly about the closed bugs, i imagine...

about compiz-manager: it's hosted in a seperate git repository on the 
compiz-fusion site, but since it's a single shell script i don't really see 
much argument for hosting it as a seperate source package (i think there are 
too many already, to be honest).  i'll just make sure there's something in 
place to keep it in sync with upstream.

thanks for chiming in with your opinion on the matter, it's good to know i 
wasn't the only one thinking that!
