The usual way to work around suspend-related problems is to either pass
acpi_sleep=s3_bios to the kernel command line, or use vbetool post after
resume (some high-level suspending program can take care of this for
you, for instance with the uswsusp package).

Also, you might want to try with Intel 2.2 currently in unstable. You'll
have to upgrade xserver-xorg-core to unstable too, but it is definitely
worth testing it.
