Can you try adding
	Option	"AccelMethod" "XAA"
to your Device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

It's a random idea, but it looks EXA being the default causes some 
problems...

Right. So far, it can't enter testing because Xserver 1.4 can't either 
anyway.
