I forwarded this exact problem at
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12507
but it's not clear at all that Alexander Heinlein (the original
submitter of the Debian bug) had the same problem, so I am cloning
this bug into a new one and you'll have to only use the new one
as of now.
