Package: xserver-xorg-video-mga
Version: 1:1.2.1.3.dfsg.1-1
Severity: normal

For kernels 2.6.15 and below the following option is needed
to /etc/X11/xorg.conf in order to enable direct rendering for AGP cards:

Option "OldDmaInit" "True"

For kernels 2.6.16 and later this is not needed.

It it possible to add a ChangeLog note when upgrading or a hook when
configuring this package or using dexconf in the x11-common package to
inform users to add this option if the have too old kernels?

The above has been tested on linux-image-2.6.15-8-smp and earlier
kernels and linux-2.5.16-rc5-686-smp. Video car is an MGA G400 DH AGP.

Etch has 2.6.18, so we don't care about pre-2.6.16 kernels anymore,
closing this bug then.
