Bug#440185: FW: new install won't boot completely

Thanks for all the suggestions.

No luck with <shift><control>+ or <shift><control>-.

I also ran through the reconfiguration for X (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg)
but I just accepted all the defaults as they seemed reasonable and I didn't
know any better. End result is probably that I'm still running same
configuration.

As requested by Otavio, I have attached the output of lspci -nn in the hope
that this will help diagnosis.

Yes, that proves my guess. You're having trouble with X.

When your screen gets black, please go to console 2 (Ctrl-Alt-F2) and
log in. After that, get the output of:

lspci -nn

And send it to the bug report so we can identify your video adapter
and its pci ids so we can try to work on that.

Another nice thing to do is to try to install Lenny and check if it
properly detects your video adapter. You can grab a mini installation
CD at http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/images/daily/netboot/mini.iso
or you can upgrade your system (new install is eaiser) using aptitude.

Thanks in advance,
