It is well-known that this option (or switching to EXA instead of XAA)
is important for compositing manager such as Compiz or Beryl (they have
very different requirement over the X server than regular
non-composiiting window manager). For instance, it's described in
/usr/share/doc/compiz/README.Debian and at http://wiki.debian.org/Compiz
