Doesn't look like it. With xserver-xorg 7.2-5 from unstable, and then
running
# dpkg-reconfigure -fnoninteractive xserver-xorg
xorg.conf still detects the card as apm.

Do you have discover1 or discover installed? If not please install one of them.
What does
discover --data-path=xfree86/server/device/driver display (if you have discover) discover --disable=serial,parallel,usb,ide,scsi --format="%V %M \t%S\t%D\n" video (if you have discover1)
say (as root)?

Apologies, I forgot to upgrade discover as well as xorg.
I dist-upgraded the whole system to unstable today, and tried again. The above command prints ati followed by a blank line. xorg.conf is set up with the ati module.

Also, setting it to ati
doesn't work either. I must set it to radeon.

This is supposed to be fixed with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.192-1. Which one do you have?

Brice

This still doesn't work. I have to set the module to radeon.
I have xserver-xorg-video-ati 6.6.3-2 installed.
