I upgraded my Debian etch. Rebooting kdm didn't start and appeared the console. When i gave the "startx" command i had the following error message.
could not open default font 'fixed'
I solved the problem as described in http://wiki.x.org/wiki/FAQErrorMessages#head-a570197d15005a2c71cbb5e565114e2c04a573a3
but I losed a lot of time... and i think it's a critical bug since i couldn't use the PC for days...
The initial xorg package version i think was 7.0
