Unfortunately, we can't take the risk of backporting such a big fix in
Etch just to fix DOSemu. Only critical bugs and security holes justify
an update of a stable release.
People using Etch may still backport the fix in Xserver 1.1.1 and
rebuild it, or upgrade to Xserver >= 1.2.0.
