See attached "bug.rpt". This is from the desktop machine.
If the symptoms are (even slightly) different on both machines, please file 2 different bugs.
Okay; I'll create a new one for the laptop later.
Also, you might want to read the three last sections of http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/ReleaseNotes With RandR1.2 support in xserver-xorg-core 1.3 and the intel driver 2.0, xinerama got some breakage.
I think this may be getting close to the problem. I've changed my xorg.conf file on the desktop machine to eliminate any references to the second head, and now X starts fine on the Intel-driven side. (I think just for kicks I may switch to the ATI-driven side in a few mins and see if that works also.) I'll study up on that xinerama breakage and see if I can learn anything, and let you know if I come up with any relevant data; I suspect I'll be suggesting that you go ahead and close this ticket as I'll probably find the problem lies in that area. In the meanwhile, I wanted to get that config file and log to you. Thanks for your response! -- Kent West Westing Peacefully - http://kentwest.blogspot.com
