Package: xserver-common-v3
Version: 3.3.6-44
Severity: normal

I recently installed debian/sarge on an old Microway Alpha workstation
with a Matrox Millenium II video card. I had trouble starting X, as the
card seems not to be recognized by the xfree server from XFree86 version
4. After several unsuccesful attempts, installing some packages and
removing others, I was finally succesful after installing
xserver-common-v3 and xserver-svga from the old stable distribution, and
configuring the system with xf86config-v3. However, I get the following
error message

Error activating XKB configuration.
Probably internal X server problem.

X server version data:
The XFree86 Project, Inc
3360

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb

which I don't quite understand. I ran the suggested commands, with the
results:

mochan@gruyere:~$ xprop -root |grep XKB
mochan@gruyere:~$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
 layouts = [us]
  model = pc105
   overrideSettings = false
    options = []

Best regards,
Luis Mochan

Probably related to other bugs about xkb-data not being installed. If
the bug still occurs with Etch, please file a new bug and include the
config and log (reportbug should do that for you).
