did not select xorg for main installation routine,
later selected xorg from aptitude, downloaded all files correctly
refused to setup xorg claiming custom config
exact line follows
xerver-xorg postinst warning: not updating /etc/X11/X; file has been
	customized
this is the exact message, this even affects dpkg-reconfigure
I have tried all the options

There's no bug here, not updating xorg.conf when it has been modified is
a feature. If the file has not been modified earlier, it's a bug, but we
already have another report about this.
