I guess you updated xserver-xorg-core to 1.3 in the meantime? Some
things have to be fixed in the ATI driver before working well in
xinerama with the new server.

This is xserver-xorg-core 1.3 as said above.

You could possibly try with xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.6.191-1 currently
in unstable.
