Package:x-server xfree86

Hello.

Sometimes my xserver xfree86 crashes.
I'm using a S3 Inc. Savage 4 (rev 02), the crash is reproduceable when
sorting some data with the konqueror.
I'm using konqueror 3.2.2 on kde 3.2.3.
Watching top in a x-shell at the same time, I see that the xfree86 runs
up to 99.7% CPU-time; and someone the system gets frozen.
I'm using this x-server :

teneriffa:/home/thomas# X -version

This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any
way. Bugs may be reported to XFree86@XFree86.Org and patches submitted
to fixes@XFree86.Org. Before reporting bugs in pre-release versions,
please check the latest version in the XFree86 CVS repository

With the suse-live cd 9.1 I have no problems. It recocgnizes my savage
S3, uses konqueror 3.21 and kde 3.21 with x-server 4.3.99.909 (4.4.0

Please help, I don't want to install Suse just for this x-server

Closing since the submitter reported that the bug was gone in XFree86
4.4. We never actually shipped XFree86 4.4 in Debian but there are many
chances the fix was in XFree86 CVS before Xorg started. In case I am
wrong and the bug is still in Xorg, feel free to reopen.

Brice
