It is a desktop (Mac mini Core Duo). The TFT is an Eizo S2110W,
connected via DVI.

I would have thought that the Debian maintainers take care of it, as
they might be aware of known issues and/or have a better contact to the
xorg developers.

Are you interested in the server log with DDC turned on?
