Bug#414742: Kernel panic when quitting X under amd64

Package: xserver-xorg-video-i810
Version: 1.7.2-4

I can repeatably cause a kernel panic simply by hitting CTRL-ALT-Backspace.
I have seen the panic on screen in one case, but I have not been able to
actually capture the panic in the logs, nor do I have any meaningful output
in X's log. I *can* switch to the text console and back while X is running
without any problem.

After much Googling, looking through the Debian BTS, xorg Bugzilla, etc., I
finally found someone with a similar situation in the Ubuntu forums:

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=333569

Yes, I know Debian is not Ubuntu, but it seems to prove that I'm not crazy.
:-)

Here is more information that I thought would be pertinent. Please let
me know if I can supply anything else.

Distribution/arch is etch/amd64.  The motherboard is an Asus P5L-VM 1394;
the graphics are on-board:

not manually edited:
