Could you tell us what your output is (on both your errant machines) from
"discover --data-path=xfree86/server/device/driver display" ?
This is where your i810/savage is supposed to be detected.
Is xserver-xorg-input-all installed on your savage machine?
Does your xorg.conf get generated correctly if you run
"dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" ?
