- Subject: xdm: Occasionally declares session dead, even for sessions on the local machine

Package: xdm
Version: 4.1.0-16
Severity: normal
I often leave my X sessions running for weeks, and sometimes (like
today) I return to a machine to discover messages like this in syslog
and my session killed:
Aug 31 12:09:09 dorothee X13: XDM: too many keepalive retransmissions, declaring session dead
Aug 31 12:09:09 dorothee X14: XDM: too many keepalive retransmissions, declaring session dead
(My usual X invocation includes `2>&1 | logger -p local0.notice -t X13'
or similar, because otherwise you don't get to see these error
messages because they overwrite bits of console that are being used
for other stuff)
Both sessions in question here were sessions on the local machine,
the IP address they were communicating on hasn't changed and no other
service using that network interface (including remote logins and the
like) has suffered any interruption.
