Indeed, if I rename the /tmp/.ICE-unix directory before, it doesn't get removed:
sukria@heracles:~$ sudo mv /tmp/.ICE-unix/ /tmp/old-ice-unix-dir [ suspend to ram ] sukria@heracles:~$ ls /tmp/old-ice-unix-dir/ 27627 7854
