Ok I see. But there is no way this bug severity is "important" since
"important" is defined as "a bug which has a major effect on the
usability of a package, without rendering it completely unusable to
everyone", which is not the case at all.

Having to reconfigure a software when you change the hardware is not
that bad. Lots of things would break in the same way if you change the
processor, the hard drive, the hard drive controller, the sound card,
... And you are not supposed to change hardware every 2 days. The newbie
users that you talk about in the bug report don't change pieces of
hardware, they don't even open their computer box. For the non-newbie
users, I don't think it is that hard to run dpkg-reconfigure
xserver-xorg. So I am changing the severity to wishlist.

FYI, Xorg 7.2 will have the ability to work without any config file and
reconfigure itself everytime you start it (that is why I am not tagging
this bug as "wontfix"). But in the meantime, there is no way to make
that work in Xorg7.1/Etch.
