- Subject: GLX: problems using :1, insists querying :0
- From: Yann Dirson <dirson@debian.org>

Package: xbase-clients
Version: 4.0.1-2
Severity: normal
I have 2 displays on my machine (:0, :1). When I log into :1 with :0 still
displaying gdm banner, running glxinfo on :1 does not work. strace tells it
blocks in a select() call, and that it first openned /tmp/.X11-unix/X0,
despite DISPLAY being correct, and even when -display is given.
Switching to the VT with :0, then back (thus causing gdm or X to allocate
something, as it seems the banner is not drawn before the console gets
switched to) allows queries "on :1" to succeed. If -display is not given,
when run on :1, it says it queries :0. If -display is given for :1, it says
it queried :1, but I don't believe him very much :}
Grepping the strace log show open's of both X1 and X0.
Delogging from :0 and rerunning glxinfo without args will have it complain
"can't open :0", running it with -display will succeed.
Alike, running a GL program won't work on :1 before switching to :0 first.
At least I now have a workaround - this "GLX not working" was annoying...

Just tested, it seems to be fixed now.
